A “Monster” Achievement!

By Candy Headley
I tested these for the digitizer and they were just so cute I couldn’t let them just lay around as samples so I put them together in this quilt!

I live in Oregon so I went to the Fabric Depot and bought the backing material.  The monsters were so cute and went with the adorable designs Heidi digitized.

I am really not a quilter but occasionally get the bug.  I have given so many other quilts to my grandbabies i think I will save this one for my first great-grandchild since my oldest granddaughter is a senior this year.  Nothing like thinking ahead!

I have bought many of Heidi’s deisgns in the past and loved them so I couldn’t resist when she she was looking for someone to try out these designs.

  1. Really cute! I’m just starting to get into quilting. I’m 66 years old so I want to learn so much. Have you ever design a quilt using your embroidery machine? I would like to make different embroidery blocks. Would you cut your blocks first and then embroidery or embroidery first then cut your blocks? I hope I made myself clear. I would appreciate any help I can get. Thanks, Doris

In answer to Doris Oldenburg, I have done all my quilts with embroidery. I cute the squares bigger to fit my hoop , do my embroidery and then center the ruler on the design and cut to the right size. I have done both 4×4 designs on 6 inch squares and 5×7 on 8 inch squares. I love using my embroiderys this way and they are all one of a kind quilts. Try it and see how much fun it is. That is the only kind of quilts I would ever do. Much easier than cutting all those little pieces. Candy

What is written on the corner squares? is it a monster poem? I can’t read it or make the picture big enough for reading.; I love the monsters and found the same fabric right after it came out — plan to make rice pack covers with them.
