A Swatch to Remember

by Linda Sue

I have always liked to journal, but about a year or so ago I started keeping a sewing journal.  I write down any and all projects I have completed each month.
It does me a lot of good to look back on the log entries and actually realize how much I have accomplished especially when I feel like I am getting nowhere checking off things on the to-do-list.I have even gone so far as to add pictures of completed projects and or fabric samples.

Since I give away a lot of my creations as gifts it also reminds me that even if I don’t readily see the fruits of my labors that I actually did get things accomplished and out into the world.

I have loads of notebooks just sitting around so I will use one for my embroidering gifts journal. I lose track of time spent sewing and the items I worked on. Like you it will help me see just what I did get finished, how they turned out, and where they ended up….round file and all. Ha. Thanks for the tip

Thank you for the reminder/idea. I used to keep a quilt journal, but it is a long time in between quilts and by the time I remember to enter it…it has gone to it’s destination. Your idea and the fact I do more embroidery than quilting will work great. I just started machine embroidery in February…hopefully I can remember most (if not all) of my projects and start a good habit!

What a great idea!! I’ve been taking pictures but to actually record to whom, how long, etc. is a wonderful reminder.
Thanks for opening my eyes to a better way.
