Supplies:

Two coordinating fabrics

6” x 8” Fabric A (lining and “trim”)

6” x 7” Fabric B (outside)

Sewing thread for construction

Chalk marker

Optional: embroidery thread, stabilizer and point turner

Construction:

Step 1:

Cut Fabrics A and B according to measurements, as shown. With the chalk marker, draw a line on Fabric B to divide it in half (each half should be 3½” x 3”).

Optional:

Hoop Fabric B (outside fabric) with appropriate stabilizer and embroider. Remove project from hoop, and trim or tear away stabilizer.

Step 2:

With right sides of fabrics pinned together along the 6” side, sew with a ¼” seam allowance OR serge with a 3-thread-overlock, trimming the fabric very slightly. (Note: Corners of Fabric A and B are turned back in photo for illustration purposes only.) Be sure to remove pins before the sewing machine needle or serger stitches over them!

Thanks, this is very nice of you. Great for someone sick or not.

Had you thought of putting a pocket on the back. This would be great to put a credit card and driver’s license for quick trips to store or put keys in it at Funerals. No need for large purse.

  4. Shirley says:

That is very similar to a pattern that I made several years ago, but mine has a zippered pouch on the back side of the tissue holder.

I can’t find the pattern, but maybe this pattern will inspire me to make it again.

Can hardly wait to try these out. I plan on making a couple tomorrow for my sisters! You guys are the best!

Thank you for the well written instructions! I am going to make this tissue holder right now. My embroidery machine is getting its annual maintenence and your article just gives me a fun, useful project. I enjoy using the small pieces of fabric that I have left from other projects so you surely hit the target for me. Barbara in Saint Louis
