Doggy Note-holder Instructions

STEPS–

Notepad Holder

  1. Cut piece of iron on stabilizer large enough to fit securely in 4X4 hoop.
  2. Cut piece of felt 5X5 and fuse it onto your stabilizer. You can use a product like Wonder Under or any Iron On stabilizer. Iron it in center of stabilizer.

Doggie Notepad Instructions

  1. Hoop stabilizer with felt and sew thread steps 1 & 2 (outline and small zigzag stitch around). Remove stitched felt/stabilizer sandwich from hoop.
  2. Cut out piece of felt along lines and spray lightly with spray adhesive – Set aside.
  3. Place medium weight piece of stabilizer in hoop and stitch the same outline. (thread steps 1 & 2 – outline and small zigzag stitches)
  4. Take hoop out of machine (do NOT take stabilizer out of hoop).
  5. Take cut out felt and place it directly over outline on hooped stabilizer and press down to secure, using pins to secure if needed
  6. Place hoop back onto sewing machine.
  7. Sew another outline stitch and small zigzag stick to secure felt securely.
  8. If using felt Be Sure To Use a top layer of (Water Soluble stabilizer) Solvy (light weight will do) over felt to prevent stitches from sinking into fabric.

  1. Proceed with sewing pattern, up to the final outline. (Last 3 thread changes)

  1. Be sure to use the same thread in your bobbin as you are using for your satin stitching

  1. Slip two pieces of medium weight stabilizer and one iron on (not tear-away) under the pattern on the hoop. Make sure the iron on stabilizer is facing UP.
  2. Finish by sewing outline.
  3. Unhoop. Tear away layers of stabilizer and cut away the last iron on stabilizer from note pad. Iron back of note pad so the adhesive sticks to pad.
  4. Secure magnets of choice to top of the back of the note pad.

  2. Cyndy says:

I don’t get it. What are the two “buttonholes” for ?

  3. Ananyua says:

Never did this before. Glad to see some instructions. Do we cut the buttonholes for the back of the pad to slip through?

  4. Cyndy says:

Anayua, that’s what I was thinking but #15 says to iron the notepad on.

  5. Cat says:

The two buttonholes are for you to slip a notepad into. A note pad comes with a heavy cardboard (it’s the final page). Just slip that cardboard into the first buttonhole and out the 2nd.

Very good instructions. Can’t wait to put them to the test

  7. Grace says:

Thank you so much for the notepad holder. I’ve never tried making one before, so the instructions are very helpful.

  8. Carol D says:

A single page to print out the instructions would be nice, instead of printing all comments, etc.

[moderator's note: Carol, you can highlight all of the instructions and then when your printer info comes up, choose "print selection"

pdf file for instructions or word would be nice for saving and printing purposes with out all the extras and saves a lot of ink and paper :)

Thanks for the instruction pages, it makes things so much easier for us.

Do these instructions apply to all of the noteholders? The daily free hunt just had a cat noteholder and it didn’t look like felt. Thanks very much for all the wonderful designs.

[moderator's note: Yes, they all pretty much follow the same set of instructions.
