I discovered that disposable foam earplugs work great for keeping
matching colored thread spools and bobbins together.
Simply squish the ear plug and stick one end in the bobbin then stick
the other end in the top of the spool of thread, the earplugs will
expand, in doing so it will keep the spool of thread and bobbin
together until you’re ready to use them.
Also, if you wind the thread ends around the earplug, giving a gentle
tug to snug it up, the ends of the threads will be kept tangle free.
You can also just use the earplugs in the top of your spool to keep
your thread ends neat if you don’t have thread keepers, simply squish,
insert in the spool end, give the earplug a moment to expand, then
wind the end of the thread a couple of times around the earplug,
giving a gentle tug and your thread should grip the earplug, thus
keeping it tidy for storage.

Excellent idea, I will defintely use this one. Thank you
that is such a great idea. my hubby brings them home every day, i would wash them with the clothes and save them for something, i didnt know what but i knew they would come in handy one day, now they have. thanks shirley
I was just thinking the other day that someone should ‘invent’ bobbin holders for these new spools. Thanks for the idea!
Aren’t you clever! Thanks for the tip!
That is a wonderful idea I use earplugs at work everyday so having a supply will never be a problem. I was just trying to figure out how to keep the thread neat the other day. I appreciate you taking the time to share this idea.
