by Mary Birenbaum

To remove adhesive gunk from embroidery hoops, use liquid laundry fabric softener. (Also works on cooked-on food on pots and pans.)

How do you use it? I have 3 machines and all my hoops are such a pain to clean! I tried Goo Gone but it doesn’t do anything as far as I can see- unless I am doing it wrong!!!

I like your tip!! Didn’t know about the “pots and pans” usage though.. Did you know that “Electric Shave” after shave splash also works great on adhesive gunk on embroidery hoops, black nicks on your machines and all sorts of stuff. It may smell strong at first but it goes away. We use this at our Sew and Vac store.

You can also use liquid fabric softer to make your own “wrinkle release “. Just mix it with water 1/3 or 1/4 in a spray bottle, lay clothing flat, stay lightly, smooth or lightly tug up and down, then across the width. The inexspensive brand works as well as the name brand.

You can also use the “wrinkle release “ mix of water and liquid laundry fabric softener to lightly spray on carpet and furniture to get rid of static.

Thanks for the tip…..I have tried everything in the kitchen and then some. I even bought the stuff you spray on made esp. for the removal of the gu…..Will try your fabric softener. That stuff is good for many things also keeping bug off. Just hang in back of cap or in shirt pocket. Fran

Just make sure, when using the fabric softener, that you DO NOT use it on “wicking” fabric. It destroys the wicking characteristics of the fabric.
