I have found a real rationalization for leaving my ironing board up all of the time in my sewing and embroidery studio!
The little darling baby bloomers are always so popular for embroidering on the “bum” of the bloomers.
Well, not only are they tiny, they are also gathered! Very tough to put the stabilizer on and the template, too, for those who use them.
I found it SO much easier to stretch the baby bloomer over the small end of the ironing board. It fits around it like a shower cap and allows me to attach the paper template I like to use onto a flat surface!
I use a light spray of 505 temporary spray on the back of the template. I also use it for the tear away stabilizer that I tuck inside, while the bloomers are still stretched onto the ironing board end.
I’ve used pins, too, outside of the embroidery field.
I smooth it all out and pop it off of the board and take it to my machine.
I also use this technique for all of the totes and bags I do!
I do hope this tip helps someone else.

Kim, I like your tip and am thinking that the sleeve board would serve the same purpose. Edith
Good tip…also, if your ironing board is large, like mine..you can use a sleeve board. It doesn’t take up as much room and works with ‘tube’ garments like sleeves and trouser legs.
I hadn’t thought about using the ironing board, what a great idea. Thanks for sharing Rob

Thanks for solving this problem!!! I have 4 granddaughters for whom I like to embroider and now it will be so easy.
I turn my bloomers wrong side out to embroidery them. After stablizing them the right side is up and they embroidery beautiful.
Never thought of that. I’ll try it soon. Thanks!
