created by BonnieJust when you thought there were no new, innovative ideas for projects, Bonnie comes up with Soap Holders. She chose to decorate the soap holders with a brand new set of designs as well!
The set includes all of the sock pony designs you see at the bottom of the page.
FSL Soap Ponies - Instructions
SUPPLIES:
Water Soluble stabilizer(like Vilene)
Threads of your choice
STEP 1
Hoop stabilizer, place hoop on machine and follow your stitch chart.
You must stitch 2 to create the soap holder, a front and a back. You can use the same design or 2 different designs like I have in the sample; I used one with the wording and one of the ponies.
STEP 2
After stitching, soak in warm water to remove stabilizer. After they are dry, lay the back side face down as in the first and then lay the top pony face up on top and match up the openings.

STEP 3
Now lace your rope or ribbon or whatever you are going to use to hold them together going over and under the little bars as pictured.

STEP 4
Lace a little more than ¾ closed (leave enough room so the soap can be inserted inside) and insert the soap.

STEP 5
Now finish lacing closed and tie off at top and you’re finished.

Enjoy!
Bonnie

What a BRILLIANT idea!! I will just *have* to try these! Thank you!
Cute. Especially for the grandchildren or as a special gift for someone.
Thanks
how cute are these, my son is moving into a new house and guess what I’m making him, hahahaha
What a clever idea. Great for any age. After all we are all kids at heart.
Very Cute! Good Idea.
OMG! How cute! Now… how about some for the grown-ups? Mt DGD would love to have one of these, but she’s a teenager. Heck! So would I!
These are darling! Another use would be to put small left over soap pieces in it to use them up.
I would like to know the stitch count on one set.
These are so cute. I was wondering what the chances are of getting a blank, so we can incorporate out own bath-time designs?
Paual
The soap ponies are beautiful. I love the edgings;
There would be lots of other beautiful gifts to make using this edging as well. xxx
These are really cute and I can see several gifts swirling in my head…… however I am a little confused(not hard with all the ideas swirling, lol) It says to stitch out on stablizer then soak to remove……. Is the background around the cute ponies then all thread? or is that another kind of material???
Cute Cute Cute!! I love your work Bonnie.
This is a wonderful idea for us campers where we have to use campground showers. There is never a place to put your soap, so having it on a ribbon, in a holder that also scrubs is a wonderful idea. Wheee! I can’t wait to try it.
Ok, a stupid question here. I’ve never heard of these; are they for decoration or to use as a “scrubbie” in the bath?
The idea and designes are absolutely adorable.I will purchase and try my luck tomorrow.
thank for your great idea what a great gift for
xmas for childen.
Thank you
Merle
My first thought was this is a great way to use up those small pieces of leftover soap, like Patricia suggested! I also agree it would be great if you could offer a blank pattern so we could personalize or monogram them ! Pleeeeze???
Nancy
Thank you so much for these designs, they are the cutiest!!! I love anything horsey, and you can use these, too. Not just another pretty face. lol When you camp with horses, or mules in my case, you can get awfully dirty, and these are just perfect for all of us to hang from the faucet, instead of panty hose with soap inside!!! Thank you for such a great design and idea.
these are adorable thank u
Wouldn’t these be great as stocking stuffers – especially with some cute Christmas designs on them.
I did this project yesterday and i really like the way it turned out. So much fun to little time
These are so adorable and perfect for a fundraiser for my horse rescue. Is there any chance that I could get a back that reads “Triple L Horse Rescue”? I would gladly pay for it to be done.
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful design and project with us.
Sherry,
Hi, I will need your e-mail and I will do the lettering since its a non-profit organization.
Bonnie
Where can a person purchase the little bars of soap that will fit inside?
I love these designs, and I am thinking of doing all of them, thanks for your sharing.
Could you do these with a cancer awareness ribbon..It would make a great fund raiser for Relay for Life. Thank you..
I really like the idea. And will do some for grandchildren, When I showed them to my wife, she said we will have to go to Wal-Mart to see if we can find ceder chips and fill the pony pouches and hang them in the closets and drawers.
like the soap holder and where is afree pattern of it to download ?
[editor's note: Norma, we give away 49 free designs each day, but they are randomly selected from the designs on the website. Hope this helps. ~rob, editor]
Hi Bonnie,
I feel like such a dope. I just now seen your reply. I forgot that I seen these. Also, I did one up and love it! Would you believe I just now found it in my bag and it reminded me that I even asked you about putting Triple L Horse Rescue, Inc. on them. ugh!
Thank you so much, you are a sweetheart. Email: sherry@triplelhorserescue.com (it’s published so not worried about it being posted here).
Thanks again!
Hugs!
Sherry
I LOVE THESE
we all have allergies and each of us use different soaps –
can i personalize these? not sure the hubby will want to use a pony (or the teen daughter)
plus we can hang the soaps so we have room for all those bars.
