As long as your fabric is smooth it should not gather. If your machine does not cut the bobbin thread you will have to cut then slide the fabric under the hoop.

Step 3. How do I get the square to stay in place when I place it under the hoop. What keeps it from moving and gathering?
Thanks

I have not stitched these out yet but am wondering if one of these butterflies is cutwork. The one sample almost looks like it...

Hi Sandra - two squares are used as the front and back of the bookmark bottom (see step 3)with the third being used as the corner triangle.

Bonnie thanx for sharing this great idea, they will make fantastic Secret Santa gifts and stocking stuffers with the receivers Initial embroidered on them. I think I will make one change though - put the second embroidery on the back of the bookmark bottom so it isn't hidden by the page when the bookmark is in use. Thanx again. Cheerz

I saw the butterflies when I was looking at the instructions for other corner bookmarks and I searched for the butterflies. I am so excited to see this set. I have made the others and they are wonderful. Can't wait to make these. Thanks, Bonnie.

Sandra, perhaps the 3rd squares is placed wrong side to the underside of the stabilizer after the bottom design is stitched to provide a backing for the bookmark? I guess we just have to stitch it out & see.

Sandra,

1st piece is the triangle
2nd piece is the one at step two
3rd piece of fabric is used at step 3. Slide the backing fabric under the hoop right side down.

hope that helps!

Great designs for a great idea! Sandra - the third piece of material is floated under the design and tacked down before the top triangle is put on (see step 3). I almost missed that one too!! The mylar is a fabulous idea also. Thanks for including.

MYLAR ANSWER -- Most likely they can, you just have to determine where to stop it and trim the Mylar. You can use the Mylar with most any design, you just need to experiment with it, do a test stitch of what you want to use it with first before you put it on the actual item you want it on.
