Project of the Week – Dressing Mike

By Heidi

Everyone will be so pleased that Heidi has completed a friend for her Paper Dolls Set!  Dressing Mike is here with several different outfits.

Boys and girls alike would love to open a package on Christmas morning and find Mike and his wardrobe!

Because Mike’s clothes are all applique, he can have as large a wardrobe as your scrap pieces of  fabric will allow!

As with the paper dolls, you can create clothing to match designs you have stitched out for the child receiving the paper dolls!

You can purchase (and members can download) Mike here:

Directions for Mike and his clothes are the same as for the paper dolls which can be found here:  http://www.designsbysick.com/articles/project-of-the-week-paper-dolls/

Thank you so very much Heidi for this design. I am doing it for my daughter’s job as she works with handicap children at the school and asked me to try and find paper doll designs which she can use with them to teach the everyday things as dressing in order etc. This will be a great help to her and the children and we want you to know how much all your hard work IS appreciated by so many people and help these kids in ways you never imagined as you did them!! THANKS Heather

Crasty – I am the one who wrote it and yes, I am actually. Have not written much in a while, however. Thanks – Rob

I’m so glad to hear that these paper dolls will be used for our children as a learning aid to them. I will be doing more and some of the outfits will be broken down to shirts pants, shoes; so hopefully it will continue to help these children along there way. Again thank you for such a nice story about the children.

    God bless you and yours

    Heidi

I made some like these for my granddaughters and found a cute small metal box to store them in. I also added a small piece of flat magnet (can be purchased in a sheet at the craft store) to the back of the garment and another to the back of the “boy”. This will allow the garment to be “worn” by the boy. It also allows both to be put on the lid of the metal box (great for quite traveling toys) or played with on the fridge while I’m cooking supper. It doesn’t take much magnet to do this and the ones I chose are a peel and stick kind so no big deal. You can make a sheet go a really long way and simply cut small pieces off to add to the clothes and Mike. The kids love them!
