Project of the Week – Silverware Holders

by Cindy

Oh my!  You have time to stitch these out and have the perfect place settings for your Holiday Season!

These lovely designs fit in the 4 x 4 hoop and can be stitched out on felt in just a few minutes!

Cindy has made sure several holidays are included!

Instructions:

These are so easy!

All you need is felt and your embroidery machine to make these lovely table decorations for your table – or that of the hostess for your holiday celebration!

You will need one additional piece of felt for the “pocket” on the back the holder.

Cut a piece of felt approximately 2/3 – 3/4 the height of the design (2  1/2  to 3 inches in height and the width of your hoop)

Stitch out all colors except for the final satin stitch.

Slide the extra piece of felt under the hoop, lining it up with the bottom of the design.

Stitch the satin outline stitch and that is it!

You are finished!

The great part about these designs is that you can mix and match!

How exciting with the “children’s table” be at the holiday dinner when they each have their own silverware holder at their place?

And, I am stealing this from Annie in the UK – she had an excellent idea!

Instead of silverware, you can put a small treat (toy or something tasty) in the pouch instead of silverware!

How exciting to see those beside your plate!

Annie also suggests adding a piece of ribbon to the top and the “treat bag” can be hung on the tree!

Using the little bags for Treasure Hunts is another idea contributed by Annie!  Just hide the clues in the bags and have them scattered throughout the house!

We love when the members of our “Designs By SiCK” family add their wisdom and creative talents to our designs!

I just purchased the My Threadbox software and was going to put in the colors to match my “stash”. What brand of thread colors did you put on the stitch chart included with the snowman? Maderia doesn’t seem to be quite right. I am going to stitch out the free one I got the other day. If I like how it looks I want to get the whole set. I’m really not much of a seamstress but I thought maybe I could handle this.

I think these would be cute sewed on the side of a placemat.

    I especially liked gingerbread boy.

I really like these and plan to make them. I need to know what type of stabilizer to use. I’m still not good with stabilizer.
    Thanks, Lee

How clever and these designs and beautiful. I made something like this using a placemat that I purchase at a discount store. You can sew or glue them on the placemat as will. Happy holiday!

I made these up before Christmas. I put the silverware in them along with the Xmas money I gave each of the kids & grand kids. After we were half way through the meal I made the comment that I had not heard any “Oh or Ah! So no one must have turned over the Snowman.” They were all thrilled. Great money pouch. I told them they could all take the Snowmen home too.

I think these are exquisite, and can’t wait to see something similar for Easter, Thanksgiving, or the Fourth of July. I imagine the possibilities are endless for designs of this nature.

these pockets are such a cute idea and would be great for a childrens party you could also put the childs name on them so they knew whereto sit
