Created by BonnieOnce again Bonnie has come up with a unique project which will certainly become a favorite to stitch out!
The 4×4 TeePee Trinket Bags are perfect for coins and assorted goodies!
These zipper cases are done in the hoop, there is only one seam that need be sewn on your machine.
You can see this set here.

Supplies:
- Stabilizer – you can use either water soluble Vilene or regular tear-away. The nice thing about using Vilene is that you can wash away all traces of stabilizer once you’re finished for a much neater look.
- Small amount of fabric for the bag
- Nylon zipper with a plastic coil (do not use a metal zipper) at least 6” long
- Embroidery threads and bobbin fill
- Optional: webbing or ribbon to make a tab handle
- Cutting Requirements
- Bag front - Cut two pieces of fabric, each measuring 5 x 4 ½ inches. Fold in half, with wrong sides together, to measure 2 ½ x 4 ½ inches, Press for a crisp edge.
- Bag back – Cut 1 piece of fabric measuring 5 x 4 ½ inches.
—————–Stitch the bottom design first—————–
All bottoms are done the same. (CC=Color Change)
Hoop stabilizer and place your bottom fabric over the hoop and stitch CC01-(this will tack down your fabric in place).
CC02 is the decorative quilt stitch.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR ZIPPER PULL IS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE HOOP (closest end to you) AND THAT BOTH ENDS EXTEND OVER EDGE OF HOOP.
STEP 1
Hoop a piece of tear-away stabilizer and then place hoop on machine.
Color 1 embroiders the zipper placement lines (photo below).

Remove hoop from machine.
Spray light mist of temp spray adhesive over placement area. Please remember to do this away from your work area and machine.
Place closed zip face up over the placement lines so that the coil is on top of the centerline (See photo below).

Also center the zipper in the hoop so that the metal pull and other end of zipper lie outside the stitching area (See photo below) and make sure the pullis at the bottom of the hoop.

The zipper pull open end must be at the bottom and the zip end at the top.
Embroider Color 2, stitches the zipper into place.
STEP 2
Place folded fabric pieces to the left and right of zipper. Making sure the fabric edges overlap the top and bottom borders of your zipper placement lines. Secure in place with a little temp adhesive spray.

Color 3 attaches the left piece of fabric to the hooped stabilizer. Color 4 attaches the right piece of fabric to the hooped stabilizer.
Color 5 stitches the decorative stitching on fabric.
Next follow color chart for design you are doing.

Next Gently open the zipper as far as it will go down. Please make sure the zipper is not in the center as if your machine goes back to the center start when finished it will hit the zipper and break your needle.
Place your piece of backing fabric on top of the design, with the wrong side facing up.

Now embroider the last color which attaches the back and front together.

STEP 3
Remove the case from the hoop and trim around the stitched outline. The excess zipper is also trimmed away.

Remove the stabilizer piece covering the zipper.
Zip zipper part closed. Leave partly open so you can turn the bag once the bottom is sewn closed.
Now open bottom of bag and line up side seams and pin.

Sew together on your sewing machine.

Trim bottom of fabric and zipper.

Now turn right side out and you’re finished.

Enjoy!
Bonnie

A friend gave me a matching set of three tee pee bags about a year ago and I have enjoyed making them for my friends. They are so handy when packing for a trip. I use the small one for medicines (that I package in small ziplock bags for each day), the medium size for makeup and jewelry, and the large one for toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, etc. I have been making mine out of double sided quilted fabrics, and am pleased to have the instructions for personalizing, etc.

I think this is a wonderful idea and has so many different uses. I make small bags full of goodies for my fiends at Christmas and this solves the problem. I have made about 37 small Kleenex holders for each and this will just be icing on the cake. It looks like you use the same pattern for this small bag as for the Kleenex holders. What a matching set. Thank you so much, great idea.——-db

The sample in your article shows the back of a bag with musical theme, a treble cleft. That was not in hte download.
Since music is such an important part of my life, I would really really like to see that one please. Will that one be coming in the future, or,,,was it a past download?
Thanks.

Looks very easy and will be a handy little purse. Having this shape allows a lot more storage inside. Made something similar a few years ago and use it for pencils, calculator etc.
Thank you Sick for this design. Will definitely be making some as travelling overseas in a few weeks.

Being from NM, these are adorable! I’ve made larger versions, and I haven’t tried these yet, but this type bag is so simple and I love that it stands up on the counter for easy access. I just downloaded them and have to try them. I also love that the zipper can be sewn in on the hoop! Will make great door prizes for our quilt show, too.

How really really cute are those!!!! I love them!

I’ve made these before - not embroidered. They’re handsomely cute and eye-catching. Well done with the embroidery. I like how that frames the zipper.
I prefer to have the zipper open at the top, not the bottom, as that means I can attach a bauble of some kind to the zipper-pull, for a finishing touch.

These are so cute. When I get them I am going to put a long ribbon piece through the zipper pull for easy access. I love this kind of project, it is quick and easy and the picture instructions are so appreciated. Hugs and blessings.

Wow, what a fun cute idea for an inhoop gift! I have to give this one a try. I could even use this a teaching item for the young one I’m teaching.

I also meant to add that these are cute and I can’t wait to try them! I also noticed the musical design…
Guess maybe there is another design set in the works?

First off the Music Notes are in another set but for the lg 6×9 hoop. I’m planning a Xmas set so I’ll try and remember to add a Music One in it for the small hoop.

When you get the set there is other information about the back. These instructions are just for creating it step by step.

These are sew cute. I just made one and its adorable. Any chance you could make one for the embroidery machine for a 5×7 or 8×8 hoop?

Wow! Just what the doctor ordered. A quick project to test all of my skills and complete instructions. Thank you.

You are not limitd to a 6″ zipper any size you have on hand will work you cut off the excess anyway. Look at the flea market or thrift store I purchased a huge bundle of new zippers for $1 not knowing what I would ever use all of them for & they are perfect for these projects. Also the dollar tree sells some notions & a pack of 3 zippers is only $1. This is a great way to use up small pieces of fabrics….Thanks

These are so cute and clever. I have to admit I couldn’t visualize how the two rectangles turned into the teepee shape until I fiddled with a sample. I can’t wait to try sewing one of these out!
