Project by Carol Cervantes
Carol tells us, “While I know next to nothing about making a quilt, the Applique Owls were just begging to be sewn–all of them. So I bought a book on how to quilt as you go and ended up with this Hooters lap blanket. They were a delight to sew as they were so well digitized. ”
Carol was impressed by Heidi’s digitizing skills and the minimal jump stitches in the design.
[editor’s note: I was recently told “There are two races in this world, ‘Those who quilt and all of the other people’. How quickly one can change to the other side!”

We want to see what unique projects you are creating using our designs! See below to submit your pictures and the stories behind them!
Next week: GrannieJo has come up with a delightful project with a set nearly 3 years old!

How CUTE!!!! I just love the owl appliques the way you did them…that is so pretty! Makes me want to go embroidery and quilt something! haha!
How cute!!!
That is adorable. I love the owls also, now you have me wanting to make some quilt blocks up for my mother in law..lol I am one of those who don’t quilt… yet
Very Cute!!
Very well done. I watched my mom, grandmother, and aunts over the years make quilts. I made my first one for my niece’s new baby. Wasn’t bad for a first effort and no instructions other then watching my family over the years. Your owl quilt is great!
This is a happy colorful quilt. I can’t help smiling as I look at it. Nice job!
Carol,
That is so pretty. Gorgeous use of colors, you talented. Almost as good the wallhanging you made me! I am going to make something with those owls too. Love, Terri
What an adorable quilt. WHOOOO, WHOOOO.
This is just too darn cute. I will have to keep it in the back of my mind for ‘when I have time’ Great job
This reminds me of my best friend from High School!! She loves owls and we are celebrating our 30th year reunion this year. (It cannot be true, we are still only 18!!) Maybe I can squeeze one out for her before the reunion… Loved your color choices.
i love that quilt, and the fact that u used my deisgns, i’m so honored. Its a beautiful choice of colors.

Looks to me like you did a wonderful job maaking this Hooters quilt. The problem with quilting is it is VERY ADDICTIVE ! I have been quilting and teaching others how to make quilts for many years now. Seems like there is always one more you want to make. I am hooked on working embroidery designs into all my quiltss now.
Welcome to quilting.
When in or near San Antonio TX Be sure to make a visit to the GENERAL STORE(quilt shop) in CONVERSE, TX. Rosie the owner, has been quilting for over 65 years. She has over 25 beautiful quilts on display in the shop. They are all done by hand no machine at all.Just beautiful. By the way her wedding gown is on display in the WWII section of the Smithsonian Museum. It was made from the silk of a parachute.
She is a wonderful lady and you will learn GOBS in a few minutes.
What a cute quilt…..& it’s your 1st? Can’t tell it….you did a wonderful job. Now you will be hooked on quilting along with your embroidery. I know I am. I started both around 4 1/2 yrs ago. My husband can’t seem to understand why I need to download anymore embroidery designs…..MEN…they just don’t understand do they???? Wonderful job Carol…keep up the good work. Now lets see do I need to go down & start quilting or embroidering or downloading? Oh why not do it all & take the laptop down with me. I can multitask. I can use one machine to embroidery one to quilt & in between catch the embroidery designs coming up. LOL
