Dona tells us:
I love to use my embroidery machine and found several designs to use for my 9 year old grandson, Liam. The shirt and the headband with the Chinese symbols (Kanji Design set) are his favorites.
I used reasonably priced tee shirts from Michael’s Crafts. The headband was made from cotton material which I embroidered and then sewed into a headband. The symbol on the headband is STRENGTH but Liam only wanted the symbol, not the word.
There are many other designs which would be appropriate for young boys.
We especially like the placement of the gecko (Deco Lizards Design set)…it looks like it is crawling up his shirt!
The alligator is from the Animal Silhouette Design set.

I really like the embroidered pieces you made for your grandson…they look great! It gives me some great ideas for my grandson…just a year younger than yours. Thanks!
what type of stablizer do you use on the teeshirt everytime I try to do a tee shirt it puckers after washing tried cutaway and tearaway, the headband is neat I have a tip for you, I buy a material I put into the headbands at lowes, sew a pocket and fill with this material and then close the pocket, make a 40 inch strip, sew up 14 inches from each end this makes pocket fill with the matter and sew shut. soak in water for ten minutes and it becomes a cool rag to keep you cool when you are playing or working outside.the matter is what you put into dirt to keep it moist use a scant one measure the measure comes in the bag would give you the name but my sewing room is such a mess right now can’t find the bag good luck
