Dorothy is one of our customers who spends her time creating quilts.
These quilts are not for friends or relatives, but for children she will never see.
Dorothy makes quilts for “Project Linus”, which is, in their own words:
The Project Linus Mission
Project Linus is comprised of hundreds of local chapters and thousands of volunteers across the United States. Each volunteer and local chapter all work together to help us achieve our mission statement, which states:
First, it is our mission to provide love, a sense of security, warmth and comfort to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need through the gifts of new, handmade blankets and afghans, lovingly created by volunteer “blanketeers.”
Second, it is our mission to provide a rewarding and fun service opportunity for interested individuals and groups in local communities, for the benefit of children.
Together we have distributed over three million blankets to children in need since our inception in 1995.
You can visit their website: http://www.projectlinus.org/
We are so pleased our designs are making their way into the hearts and lives of children in need.
Dorothy, thank you for sharing pictures of some of your quilts with us.
You are certain to be an inspiration to others who have been searching for a way to use their talents to give back.

These look so cute and cuddly. Just what children need for comfort. Keep up the good work. I praise you.
OMG, I can see & feel the love in everyone of these QUILTS. I pray you will keep up the good work. God Bless You.
Your quilts are very adorable. I’m sure the children treasure them!
Thank you for showing these. I have donated quilts to Project Linus in the past. At the moment I’m involved with a local charity here in Brisbane Australia. It’s called Project Love & Care. (they provide a quilt/blanket, pillow, toiletries and an activity pack as well as 2 changes of clothes)It is for abused and/or neglected children who are going into foster care, but they also look after a women’s shelter as well as street kids.
I had thought to make quilts just like you have but wasn’t too sure how they would look. I’m only new to machine embroidery, but have been quilting about 6 years. Been sewing for 5o years.
Lovely quilts for children who are in need. Thank you for sharing your project with us.

I have wanted to make simple quilts for Project Linus. Since I have never made a quilt, I was wondering if the cute kitten quilt is difficult to make. Would you mind sharing how you made it? Thx Marcia
