What Do You Do With Knitting Pins?

by Char
Quite accidentally I discovered a use for “knitting safety pins”.
I filled several bobbins for a project and wanted to keep them separate.
I found the knitting safety pins in knitting supplies that I inherited – new use for an old product! The pins come in several sizes.

fantastic idea. I have several of those I picked them up because I thought they would be good for other crafts. I had nothing in mind but just liked them. Now I have a great idea. thanks.

I was surprised the term knitting pins. We knitters call them stitch holders. But this sounds like a really good idea

I had to check out what was meant by “knitting pins.” I thought I had every kind of notion for knitting known to man, but this caught my attention. I was kinda bummed when I found out they were what I had always called stitch holders and not some kind of new thing I would just have to go out and buy. 8-) You found a great use for them!

As a knitter I call them stitch holders too but found they are great for holding the little cards with embroidery floss wound onto them, in numerical order & a different holder for the 3 brands of floss I often work with. I used to keep them in a box but I upset the whole box one day & lost some when in a friend’s house baby-sitting (I suspect the couch ate some!) & needed to find a new way of organizing the colours of floss I was currently working with. The pin of the stitch holder goes through the punched hole on the cards & I can quickly find the colour I want.

Really like this idea! I like how people find other uses for items from assorted crafts. I had never heard the term ” knitting pins” for what I called stitch holders, so that was interesting, too.

I’ve used ‘em to hold sorted buttons and lump together safty pins. When I was working on costumes for plays, I would carry lots of extra sewing stuff with in case of “emergency” fix-its. Those stitch minders are good for keeping bobby pins and safety pins easily accessable; kinda like a key ring.

  8. deze pennen gebruik ik al jaren, ze zijn bij uitstek geschikt bij kabels breien. even een paar steken in rust

Awesone : Thanks for the new “IDEA”.
I used them for my safety pins. Small pins small stitch holder, med pins med holders etc.
It keeps them all in one spot.

I inherited knitting pins. They are long slender and double pointed. They are in the original paper packaging that says Knitting Pins. They look like they would be U.S. size 0 or 1 and about 10 inches long.
