With This Ring…

by Granny Elen

I have lots of large cones with no way to secure the threads when I am not using them.  I found that the little ring on pop/water/ice tea bottles is the perfect size for my cones.

I take the ring off and use a nail clippers to clip the little pieces of plastic as close to the ring as I can. The picture shows it partially done.

And slide it on the cone catching the thread under it.

What a great idea! I don’t have empty bottles of this type and thought a bag of inexpensive hose washers might work as well, just a thought.

  11. Shari says:

That is a good and unusal idea. I use hair bands that I can get at the family dollar pretty cheap. I use the little ones for the regular size thread spools and the bigger ones for the big cones.

what a fantastic idea! i have the smaller cones (at least they look smaller :) than yours and am wondering if that will work on them.. i hate loose threads.

OH COOL!!, when I started reading, I thought they’re too small to reach around the cone…duh, I read further and the pictures say it all! what a perfect idea!

This is a really good tip. If we think about it, I’ll bet we can find other uses for these rings. They do come in different sizes; therefore, different uses.

  27. rango says:

could you tell me what size bottles you are using the rings from
