Windstar, I am totally blown away by this teacher's action. I was a co-sponsor of the Science and Ecology club and we Never left a child alone, nor did we let them ride with anyone other than the parent unless previous arrangements had been made. I can't beleive that the principal is leaving this person as a sponsor!!! Unbelieveable. Dreama

i am so glad that your daughter is ok first of all. But when my children were in band we never left a student in the school parking lot when we returned from a game until their parent got there or we drove them home. Can't believe how this person could do such a thing especially now days it is unthinkable.

Wow. I am so glad your daughter is safe but what a scary thought to think what could have happened. I am glad the school was a bit supportive but I agree that person should not be trusted with such a responsibility. How could they have thought such a thing was alright? I can't help wondering where the bus money went?

If this was school sponsered I'd head to the school board. And if the bus went back to the school, then that counts! And there was a case like this here years ago. The parent sued and WON. Didn't take the money, just wanted to win and didn't want it to happen to another child.

Windstar, I am so glad your daughter is safe. I don't have much to add to the comments others have made. They said it all for me.
This just reinforces, however, how good these forums are for each of us. We can vent, whine (Angi), howl at the moon, whatever. We know we have friends here who will listen and support us! HooRay!

I am so glad you got satisfaction from the school. You never want to get ugly with people, but sometimes you must complain. They put your daughter in an unsafe situation and that is never acceptable.

I just read this. I was upset to hear this happen. The fact that her excuse was she wanted to save money by not getting the bus speaks for itself. All she was interested was in having more money in her pocket. No regards for the safety of others. She left your daughter alone before you arrived. That is inexcusable. The fact remains that things could have turned out quite different. I feel the school should have done more than just voice their disappointment in her. Also, I feel that the should have not left it to you to decide the drivers fate. Does it always have to be a tragedy before action is taken. Sorry that you and your daughter had to go through this.

As a Mom of 2 daughters, I find this totally unaceptable. I am so glad your daughter is safe, but even an apology from the sponsor wouldnt be enough to justify this action. Did your daughter have a cell phone?? When my daughters were taking evening classes at the local community college, I had them make a habit of calling me and talking to me as they left the building, and walked to the parking lot, and didnt hang up with them until they were safely seatbelted and door locked into their car. My youngest daughter (27) still keeps this habit --when she walking from someplace , ie mall, to her car, in the evening. Of course, most evenings she is with her boy friend, so Mom doesnt get those calls now.
Again, I am so happy that your daughter was ok. Chris Quote:
