She must have been mentioned in the older books. I can't find any mention of there every being one marketed.

We have an idea of what she looked like. I am attempting to make a pattern for her. I need to know if there would be any licenseing problems. I know that there have been many patterns of the Raggedy Anns and Andys, over the years. You usually needed to purchase the license to make them for sale.

I'm new here, just bought a 2 year subscription today. Since I can't figure out how to download designs or change my username for the download library, I thought I would read as much as I could, being a newbie and all.

I noticed that there aren't any teacup design sets. You know, those pretty, dainty, chintz designs with saucers and lace tablecloths. Since I'll probably never get as far as making a design,( Lord knows I can't download them, then I have to figure out what to do with them once I do), it would be terrific is someone with an interest in the old victorian tea room look would create something like that.

I am new to the world of embroidery, in fact I don't even get my machine until Tuesday of next week. It will be a Singer Futura 250. It is like new with all the accessories for a blessed priced of $300.00.

My ? is this. In all the research I have done I have only seen where the 4x4 hoops produce a 1 inch font size and the 5x7 hoops can produce up to a 1 1/2 in font size. WHY so small for the size of the hoop?

There seems to be so much wasted room left that couldbe used for making larger fonts/design sizes.

Can you make bigger sizes within these 2 hoop sizes?
If so can youplease explain to me how it works?

I sew a lot when off. That would be between taking kids to school and home, cooking, cleaning, laundry and all that neat crap.

This week was almost too busy to play but I managed to sneak in a few treasures (I also changed the living room around, hung curtins and made head rest covers for the recliners - with ME initial of course).

I bought most of the book things from EL last week, did the "Imagination" shirt for Brittany. The pillow and bag are for a nurse, we celebrated her 40th last night.

Called Brother - they said take it in to be serviced, and you can look on our site for the nearest dealer/service/repair.

So I did. But they neglected to tell me that I had to have a service order to be repaired, now waiting for them to send it to the repair shop so my machine can be fixed, otherwise I could pay $135.00 and possibly more if they find other things wrong. Once they get it it will be a week or more before it will get fixed. Could not give me a time frame, just "will call me when done". UGH! :(

As I was talking to the one girl there she told me that this machine is not made to do continuous embroidering... only set up for 2 or 3 times a week.... Ridiculous!!!!! Have you ever heard of such a thing???? :confused:

So I left my machine, went out to the truck and started telling hubby - well, would you believe that I started to cry?! Ugh! I am 52 years old and I should not be crying over something so trivial. But I had big plans. No babysitting for 10 days, can finally get my unpacking done, and do up lots of stuff so I could set up a table and try to sell things for the rescue. Make some much needed money!!!! So I guess the disappointment just hit me hard.

Well, my hubby (the most wonderful guy in the world) went on the computer when we got home. He went to the military shopping site (afees) and ordered me a new machine - this one is a Singer Futura CE 150! After reading up on it it sounds like it could be a good machine - can't wait for it to get here to learn all about it. And ALL my designs (around 5,000) will work on it.... I am so happy now.

I may not be able to embroider today or tomorrow or even for a couple days, but at least its not weeks.

So Brother made me mad by not making sure they gave me all the information that I needed for it to be serviced but my hubby came through and made me happy!

So take that Brother and if I like the Singer more - well, lets just say you lost a customer.

MAKES 1 9" TORTE
This German dessert got it right by combining two of our favorite ingredients—chocolate and cherries! This recipe is based on one in Jean Anderson and Hedy Würz's The New German Cookbook (HarperCollins, 1993).

FOR THE CAKE:
13 tbsp. unsalted butter, softened
1 cup plus 3 tbsp. cake flour
1 cup granulated sugar
3⁄4 tsp. vanilla extract
1⁄3 tsp. almond extract
9 eggs, separated
9 oz. semisweet chocolate, finely grated
3 tsp. baking powder
Pinch salt
3⁄4 cup finely ground almonds

FOR THE FILLING:
1 1⁄2 cups heavy cream, chilled
9 tbsp. kirschwasser
2 cups whole cherry preserves

FOR THE FROSTING:
3 cups heavy cream, chilled
1 cup confectioners' sugar
2–4 oz. semisweet chocolate, at room temperature,
shaved into curls with a swivel-bladed vegetable
peeler
8 pitted Brandied Cherries

1. For the cake: Preheat oven to 325°. Use 1⁄2 tbsp. of the butter to grease three 9" round cake pans, line pans with parchment paper, and grease paper with another 1⁄2 tbsp. butter. Dust each pan with 1 tbsp. of the flour, tapping out excess, and set pans aside.

2. Put remaining 12 tbsp. of the butter, 3⁄4 cup of the granulated sugar, and vanilla and almond extracts into a large bowl and beat with an electric mixer on high speed until light and fluffy, 2–3 minutes. Reduce speed to low, add egg yolks, and beat for 1 minute. Fold in chocolate and set aside.

3. Beat egg whites in a medium bowl with an electric mixer on low speed until frothy. Add remaining 1⁄4 cup granulated sugar, increase speed to high, and beat until stiff but not dry peaks form, 4–5 minutes. Fold one-third of the whites into the butter mixture, then fold in remaining whites. Sift remaining 1 cup flour, baking powder, and salt together. Sift one-quarter of the flour mixture at a time into butter–egg mixture, folding in mixture after each addition. Fold in almonds. Divide batter evenly between prepared pans. Bake until a toothpick inserted in center of cakes comes out clean, about 20 minutes. Allow cakes to cool briefly, then invert onto a wire rack, peel off parchment, and set aside to let cool completely.

4. For the filling: Whip cream in a chilled bowl with an electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form, then set aside.

5. Put 1 of the cake layers on a cake plate. Sprinkle with 3 tbsp. of the kirschwasser. Spread 1 cup of the preserves, then half the whipped cream, over cake and set another cake layer on top. Repeat layering with another 3 tbsp. kirschwasser and remaining 1 cup preserves, whipped cream, and cake layer, pressing down slightly on top layer and sprinkling it with remaining 3 tbsp. kirschwasser.

6. Whip cream and confectioners' sugar together in a large bowl with an electric mixer on high speed until soft peaks form, then frost top and sides of torte. Sprinkle chocolate curls on top and sides of torte, then decorate top with cherries. I wasn't quite sure why I was forced to take it in High School (since I already knew how to sew:cool:), but now I'm glad I did. I love to sew and create things. I'm really bad with straight lines though. So quilting has always scared me. I just recently purchase a Janome Memory Craft 9500 and I have become addicted!!! I have embroidered everything I can get my hands on. And told myself to stop practicing and start actual projects. I made a corner bookmark. I was proud with how it turned out. I have really enjoyed this site so far and hope to learn as much as possible!

Nothing too fancy. The dolly is embroidered on the white bunny rug, but I overlocked the edges and then stitched little hearts inside the stitching. The other two bunny rugs didn't need any embroidery, so I bound them with bias binding.

Some people may already do this. But I wanted to share one of the things I do with you. When I buy a couple yards of stablizer I don't fold it and store it. I have saved my wrapping paper tubes. I wrap the stablizer on the tubes. I don't have to worry about folding and unfolding. I have a Topaz that I got in January and it seems very fussy. It doesnt like Sulky threads and is so/so with Gutermann but likes the Robison-anton.
I didnt know what I was doing and bought all Rayons so now I need to buy a whole set of Polyester and I would like to know if any of you have dealt with them in your Viking machines?

With a hubby who is a software designer, I am pretty diligent and watch for things but those darned things are everywhere now!
Man I wish there was a way to just turn it around on whoever makes those and fry their computers! LOL

The fire went up the hill, away from our houses; to an empty lot and some of the woods there. Lightning struck the transformer that supplies our electricity and caught the area and pole on fire. The firetrucks got here first but, couldn't spray water until Alabama Electric got someone out here to cut off the power to the downed and burning pole. The crazy thing is, we have had so much rain that everything is soaked. I can't believe that wet stuff was burning!
I know God is watching over and taking care of us. Isn't life crazy?

Said there were 10 viruses on my hard drive, 7 in the shared folder and 3 can't remember where. Said my security was in danger. Checked the control panel, all of the security was on and said it was working. Am now running a virus scan. So far, no infected files. :oops: I don't know anything about computers, and this has me very nervous. It is easier on my hands to hoop fabric and quilts. The program allows me to develop larger designs, move around the design integrated overview window more easily, there are more formats that can be downloaded and saved, there are more thread types and color palette, and much more. I dont know why I want to vent here but today is just one of "my" days.
I have Fibromyalgia, Rheumatoid arthritis, chronic fatique syndrome, back injury, extreme allergies and a list of stuff I cant even spell. Today is one of my days when I am so overwhelmed by it all that I cant move...cant think....just sitting in a chair trying to distract myself. I cant even go to my sewing room.
I dont vent to the "fibromyalgia" sites or medical sites because I dont want to make my whole life about my illnesses.
But darn it....today...and so many others are just ...ugh.

But I am managing to get cooking done and some launder done as well its just hard to fold it because i can not use my thumb. I have to give you all a good laugh the other night i wanted some toast with the spicey peach jam i made with help from DH. DH was in bed sleeping I popped in some bread into the toaster grab my jar of jam or what i thought was jam i made this year. I struggle with the jar for about 3 minutes trying to get it open. I was pouting by this time because all i wanted was some toast with jam on it. I finely got it open only to realize it was the wrong jar. I open up the freg and got the right jar I felt so fullish it was not funny. But in the end of it i had my toast.

All I can say is I really miss my thumb and being able to do thing because of it. So 4 more days dealing with it on my hand. What's the easiest way to line things up?

Also, I have a Brother 700II.....I divided a name up, it had 8 letters, 4 and 4.....the settings for the size were 1.89" tall (I use inches) but the second phase of the name came out slightly larger. The customer didn't see the difference but I did.
