Do Mac users have the same choices for software as PC users?

Denise, that's very interesting! I'll take a closer look after work when I'm home again.
Roxanne, there is hardly any digitizing software for Mac users, I know of only one, which is highly professional and costs a 5digit dollar amount... |

This new software is not digitzing software but can be used to work with files of designs that are digitized already from what I see in the information. It looks like you can view the designs in files similar to Iconizer by Embird and you can save designs in several formats for zipping later. You can send designs to certain machines. You can assign colors to your designs from several Brands of thread to designs in VIP3 and Pes formats. (hope that's right) Make sure to read everything on the second link that gives more detail. There is a Demo Version that can be downloaded for you to test it out Denise in Calgary Last edited by gartner; 2 Weeks Ago at 02:01 PM. |

From what I know of Mac machines is that you have to add a program to the Mac that allows you to run the Windows Operating system on the Mac. Then you could use software that runs in a Windows envirorment. So you are really splitting the computer into a Mac envirorment and a Windows envirornment in order to use the Windows Software. It is doable and many have there Embbroidery software set up on the Mac this way. This new software runs in the Mac envirornment without having to use Windows on the Mac. It will be interesting to see if they bring out updates for this new software that allows users to do more with design files - such as editing and digitizing etc. Denise in Calgary |

Yes, such software to run windows on a Mac exists. But the very same minute you are going to run it on your Mac, you deprive yourself of the most important advantages a Mac offers compared to Windows-PC's: you are vulnerable to viruses and spyware, and all the oter nast things you have to deal with as Windows user. So noone who really cares about his Mac runs windows on it...! (And noone should recommend this to someone who is not a Mac savvy!)

I agree with what you are saying about running Windows on the Mac but many are doing this as this is the only way they can get their embroidery software to run on the Mac computers. I guess there is a great need for the different machine and software manufacturers to start bringing out software that works in the Mac envirornment and not just the Windows envirornment. Perhaps more Mac users should be asking their embroiderey machine dealers to bring out the software for the Mac's. That maybe the only way to change this. Denise in Calgary |

I fully agree with you.
It is even more strange to find embroidery software almost exclusively in the Windows environment, as usually the "creative" software is Mac software! (e.g. Photoshop and all Adobe products were genuine Mac products first!) |
