BEAUTIFUL! If it was my work and a wall hanging I would NOT use a batting, just a backing. You can put it together by stitching in the seams or 'outlining' the seams or doing quilt designs from DBS in the 3 center blocks. that too is personal preferance. Hope that some of this helped.

OOOHH! That's nice. It would make a lovely table runner!.I'm curious Teddy, why would you not quilt it with a batting? I would birth it and not put a binding on it as it looks too pretty already. To birth a quilt just take the top and bottom right sides together and layer the batting on top. I iron the 3 layers, the stitch 1/2 " from the edge all the way around leaving an opening large enough to turn the whole thing right side out and then iron smooth again. pin baste it altoghether and quilt.

This is beautiful!
Each to his own, I would use a lightweight batting, something very thin. First, cut the backing and the batting slightly larger than the top piece. Pin it securely together. Then, starting at the middle, quilt it. Quilting just means attaching the 3 layers together with stitching. There are many ways to do it. In the ditch means sewing along the seams, and it is the easiest IMHO. You could also add a little quilted design in the lighter squares. However you do it, the purpose is just to keep the 3 layers from shifting. When you are done, there are several ways to bind it on the edge. I'm sure you can google much better directions than I could give you here. |

My rational was that I didn't want the extra weight hanging on the wall because one time I did add batting and it gapped in the center. Might not have had proper support for the hanger though. Hum, think I just solved my own problem

Thank you so much ladies
I think I'll go with oldhag and birth it. Never heard of that before but I think it's the easiest way (maybe I'm wrong there). When I'm not so scared of ruining my projects anymore I can try quilting the way grannyof9 described. I will quilt in the ditch and might use one of the quilt block doodles from DBS in the center blocks.

Great idae putting a design in the center of the blocks for quilting! If you have any bits and bobs of lace you could put those on too! There are no rules in quilting!! Only if you want there to be
