Too Much Pucker

New to the forum, and hope I can add a little from time to time to help others..
My wife and i own a Custom Canvas Shop and cater to the Marine industry.. and recently we've conbined Embroidery into our mix. recently we've been using our photography skills and photoshop to duplicate the names on the boat and digetize the photo and stictch the name of the boat into the Canvas..
Now the problem, recently we took on a project where we stitched the Name of the boat into the Mesh (phifertex) window coverings. Its alot like a plastic screen.. The project came out looking great except for the pucker around the stitching..
The process I'm using is a sticky back stabilizer in the hoop and then the mesh is laid on top of the hoop (stuck to the stabilizer)
Its been working great on the "Sunbrella" we've been using but we're getting a pucker out of the mesh..
Help me get rid of the pucker..Please

I have not embroidered on mesh, but it sounds to me like the mesh is still unstable. Because of the openness of the mess, the thread is pulling the screening together. Try some of the tips at the following link:

I agree with La Cole. It does sound like the mesh just isn't being held stable enough with just the sticky stabilizer. You might consider using a layer of water-soluble "topping" stabilizer (it looks kind of like plastic food wrap) on top of the mesh before you stitch the name out. Let us know if that works, ok? I'd try (strong) watersoluble tear away stabilizer and baste the material to be embroidered on it

When I had issues with puckering I bought DBS Fuse and tear. I ironed that on the back and then used a layer of water soluable on the top too. I had no puckers on very thin fabric I was using.

What a grrrrrrreat tutorial. I still haven't tackled the window screen for my front door that has been one of those 'things I want to do', but just wanted to say thanks bunches.

As this is a business venture, and you may be doing many more such projects, I would advise you to look into investing in a large Magna Hoop, or Quick Snap hoop system.
I have a Brother PR600II and use these hoops exclusively - the magnets hold the fabric very firmly, and it avoids the need of anything sticky, and it speeds up the process of hooping and alignment no end as well.

we got the pucker down to a minamum by doubling the sheets on the bottom and adding one on the top and clamping it all together..

This site is great for helpful people! Glad you got your problem fixed. These wonderful friends have helped me with lots of 'puckering' situations, too.
