Things to Do While the Embroidery Machine is in the Shop

    by Jolene

(Editor’s note.. I know SewMagical wrote something similar to this a while back, but Jolene shares some different ideas!)

My machine had to go to the shop for some serious repair. I am totally lost without it.

So what do I do? Well, as I look around my work room (aka dining room) I see a number of Possible projects.

    1. Sort through my embroidery thread, make a list of colors I need
    2. Sort through bobbins and and take care of the loose ends
    3. Go through my needles possibly order some
    4. Sort through projects sheets
    a. Get rid of doubles,
    b. Organize - so I can find them again

    5. Re-arrange my work room
    6. Go through fabric in work room

These are pieces I have set aside for future projects which I planned but didnt get to yet.

    STOP!!!! STOP!!!!

What is wrong with this ???

Why am I looking at everything that needs to be done? I will never get that all done.

What if I just took one chore (no) CHALLENGE at time Works for me

Did the thread, now on to another CHALLENGE!!

What about you all? Do you need an AHA Moment to get you started and meet a

    CHALLENGE?

I have more or less used this most of my life. I have called myself the Queen of Procrastinators.

I love to put off any chores and maybe think about doing it tomorrow. But I have also discovered that looking at one tiny part of the whole problem makes it a whole lot easier to get started and get it all done.

Hope this has helped some of you out there. Now tomorrow should I go through the bobbins or project sheets or???

Great article! I just loaded my machine up to ake it I. For servicing tomorrow and I miss it already.

    2. GREAT TIPS! THANK YOU. IN ADDITION TO THE ABOVE SUGGESTIONS, CUT FABRIC FOR YOUR NEXT PROJECT OR TWO OR THERE . . . KEEP THE PATTERN ENVELOPE OR DIRECTIONS WITH THE FABRIC TO IDENTIFY WHAT THE PROJECT IS. WHEN THE MACHINE IS READY TO SEW AGAIN, SO WILL YOU! YOU CAN ALSO PRESHRINK AND PRESS FABRIC TO GET IT READY FOR YOUR NEXT QUILT PROJECT.

IF ALL ELSE FAILS, GO SHOPPING, HA. “MONEY CAN’T BUY HAPPINESS BUT IT CAN BUY FABRIC, AND FABRIC MAKES ME HAPPY.”
