This is to announce that the promised December 2011 unofficial DBS contest is now OPEN!
We have some real treats from the wonderful Patty Lanter (p_lanter) this contest!
The first is the second in a series of Oh so cute 'stickie' ballerinas in three sizes : 55.2mm x 99.1mm 99.4mm x 178.5mm and 132.6mm x 237.9mm

The 'rules' are simple, and will still follow the format that Patty laid out so well:
      You
all may enter a maximum of two projects, - they do not have to have been created this month (but they must not have been entered in any of the DBS contests before).
      A 'project' is
ANYTHING that has a DBS design embroidered on it - be as 'interesting' as you like!
Here are Patty's tried and tested points:
      A) Here is where you post pictures of items you want to be in the contest.
B)You can enter 2 projects per Contest.
      C) You may use other designs in your project but must have at least 1 design that is from DBS. (...but not just plain font letters)
      D) You must mention what DBS design you added in your project.
      E) If you used a design from another source in addition to a DBS design please also try to state where the design came from.
      F) Winners can choose whether to post instructions or not on how they made their project. This will make it easier for those that have difficulty writing in English. (..but we can usually decipher what you are saying, even if the words aren't 'quite right' LOL)

The winner gets to choose 5 designs.

      2nd place gets 4 choices.
      3rd place gets 3 choices.
All others that enter the contest will get to choose 2 designs.
Those who vote, but have not entered a project will get to select one design.
This contest will end on Saturday 31st December 2011

For this contest there is another
bonus to be given to those that enter the contest only.

What that means is voters can not get these designs for voting.

This month we have a wonderful design that is the first of a set of quilt blocks that Patty is going to be donating to the contests as bonus prizes over the next year!

The artwork is from Diddybag and is a semi_exclusive design set that she purchased.
For this reason, these designs can only be used for personal use or gifts. You may not sell items using these designs without first contacting Patty for her permission.
Patty may be selling these designs sometime in the future, so those that are getting these for free may count themselves VERY lucky!
(The ballerinas can be used for personal use as well as for items for sale.)

Those that enter the contest once can request ONE SIZE ONLY and if they enter 2 times they may have ALL THE SIZES.

      The available sizes are : 96mm x 96.1mm
      118.5mm x118.7mm 148.4mm x 148.5mm and 197.8mm x 198mm

Here is another design that can be used as a continuous border - my stitch-out is two times the design and measures 176mm x 31mm, but you will also get a file with a single design of two birds that measures 88mm x 31mm, and also one with three birds measuring 151mm x 31mm (and if you ask - I will do each bird as a separate file)

To continue the 'post#7 rule', you can choose from any of the designs that have been created by myself for the last six contests, in addition to the prizes above (bear in mind that Patty's designs are only available during the contest that they are offered in, so if you want to collect any of them, you need to 'strike while the iron is hot' and get them when you see them! ) -
In the first December contest that I hosted (2010) there is 'the pincushion' and 'the snowflake'
In the February contest there is 'the paisley design' and three different 'heart' designs
In the April contest there is 'little angel one', 'hoppy Easter' and 'shabby chic'
In the June contest there is 'little angel two', 'willow leaves' and 'the stork'.

In the August contest there is 'sun in shades', 'Zebra', and 'Swirly Floral Block'
And in the last contest (October2011) there is the cuddly mummy, the leaves and flowers border and the flowers and buds border.
And for those that enter the contest only bonus prizes from February (needlecase) April (bunny) June (sampler elements) August (fancy cross-stitch Capital Letter Alphabet) and October (ginkgo leaves and chrysanthemum blocks) so that those that enter this contest have a larger range of designs to choose from.
(You can go to the threads for each of the contests to see the pictures.)

I designed a Western quilt for my DH with medium sized Dresden Plate blocks (reminiscent of sunflowers), but he wanted even larger blocks. I made a sample lap sized quilt with four (4) of the larger blocks. I used scrap fabrics -- not my DH's color choices. He decided that he did not want those huge blocks. Unfortunately, I only have a picture of the quilt top (not the completed quilt), but it shows some of the embroidery designs that he wants in his larger quilt.

Welcome to the contests Bev, and thank you for this impressive entry. (and for the clear design inventory!) I think that these are excellent design choices for a 'manly' western quilt, and I love the fabric that you have used. I do hope that DH appreciates how lucky he is to be getting such a bespoke quilt!

Bev, Love the quilt, your DH should be proud of this and if he does not want it I will be glad to be a friend, hint hint, and receive it. Good luck in the contest.

I love the quilts you both have posted - lots of hard work went into them to make them so beautiful. The Christmas gift from secret santa will be very useful as well.
I have told myself I wasn't going to enter as I don't need the designs but Patty's generous donation of the quilt blocks are beautiful! I may need to rethink my decision! Thank You Patty!

Hope you do enter. The blocks for this set are beautiful. You are going to want them all. Plus there are a few more surprises with this set.
