Pamela, you're grandbabies will love their new robes. You did an excellent job. I didn't know that rick rack melted when using a hot iron, so I've learned something from your problem. Thank you so much for sharing your problem and the robes. I love seeing what others are making/doing with their machines.

Love the robes and the way you put their names on the letter!
Just so to let you know you can melt polyester thread too, if you are not careful. Even if the fabric can take the heat sometimes the thread and trim can not. So it's best to use the coolest iron you can.

The robes are adorable. It's great to be able to spoil the grands!

Shastasmom...Thank you for the compliment. In all fairness..I'm not so sure it wasn't the type of rick rack I bought that caused the problem. I went on a 2am run to Wal-mart when I decided to add the rick rack to the edges. And Wal-mart didn't have the color I needed in the flat packaging so I found these rick racks on rolls like ribbon rolls. They were a dollar each, so I bought 20 dollars worth in different colors. I was so pleased with myself for finding this great buy! And now...on looking back...I think what I bought was craft rick rack, probably to go into scrap books or some such project. Regardless...I guess you get what you pay for.

Oh my gosh Red. I did NOT know that. Thank you so much for sharing. Wow. If only I knew that when I started. Oh well. And unfortunately, its Ofray rick rack, but the packaging doesn't say what its made of, or that its not heat friendly. Thank you for the compliment!

Believe me, it was very easy. the hardest part was the rick rack. that was a nightmare for me because when I finished the pink one, I ironed it with an iron set on the hottest setting, linen. It melted the rickrack and made it HARD. I had to take the whole robe apart and redo it . I would have been much better off starting from scratch. But, the bottom line, basically it was super easy.
