      Default Another Christmas Purse

Christmas! My LAST (and favorite) large purse. This one is for my DIL Cathy. I had fun making these (picture is of front and back of the purse) but I am very glad to be finished. The quilting designs I used for the purse is from the Crazy Patch Bag from Kreative Kiwi. Heather's designs are so much fun and EASY to sew out! I did not use her "bag" suggestion however, but used a Simplicity #1619 pattern instead. If you will notice, some of the quilt areas say: "On Dasher; On Dancer; On Master; On Visa". Thanks for looking!

PamHess, are you sure you don't want to make another one for you. They are so awesome. If I lived closer I would try and talk you into making one for me. No kidding they are great

Thank you so much. I have another one I made for me that I didn't post because, even though the embroidery was good, the pattern I used for the purse was another view on the pattern envelope and when I did the embroidery, I didn't take into account for the "pleats" in the fabric and all the "backing" in the embroidery. The end result was a 'not so neat' pleats that are not clearly defined or crisp. Kind of chunky, if you know what I mean. But its good enough for me, but not as a gift. But thank you. If you lived near me I would be more than happy to help you do it LOL

I do understand what you are talking about. About how long did take you to make one purse?

I guess if I had sat down and continued at it, I could have done it in maybe 4-5 hours? But I did it over a period of several weeks, stop and start as I take care of my 3 year old Granddaughter Arya several days a week. Now if I had followed the instructions from Kreative Kiwi and used HER (Kreative Kiwi) purse instructions it would have taken probably half that time. But most of the time I spent adjusting the embroidery sew-out to fit the pattern pieces (a nightmare for me as that doesn't come easy for me). At the place where the darts were, for instance, I had to rip some of the embroidery design out and remove it and the backing because it was way to thick to make darts. And in another instance the embroidery sew out was not wide enough for the pattern piece, so on one purse I just made about an inch fold in the pattern piece making it narrower. In this purse I posted I actually added extra fabric to the sides making it big enough to fit the pattern piece. If I had it to do over again I would just go with the 1st way in just altering the pattern. Plus I made my own straps instead of using webbing. I always have to make it more difficult than what it's originally meant to be. Never leave well enough alone is my motto LOL.

Oh, and I forgot to mention the time I spent either digitizing some of the designs and arranging the designs so they would fit the quilt pieces and picking out just the right fabric pieces so that whatever design I was using would show up and not get lost in the fabric. Sigh...... LOL

That's awesome PamHess, I just want to say one thing, more 'real' your efforts look, the more honest they appear.
