Default Brother PC 6500 compatible embroidery font/script cards

I only have one font card purchsed in 2003 with my machine. I'd like other fonts/scripts to use. Brother evidently only made one font card. My machine is outdated using a card rather than the newer machines that use a usb port. Will another make and model embroidery machine have/sell cards that may be compatible with my Brother?

Since I don't know much about embroidery, how does one connect script letters that are available online to form words? Does that feature depend on the embroidery machine? My machine has one script font that I can spell out words with but I'm looking for other scripts, either on a card or by downloading from the internet. I can download free script letters from the net but can't connect them into words.

      Thanks for any help. Rabbit

Welcome to DBS, Rabbit. It's always very nice to greet new members.

I don't have a Brother machine but did have a HV that operated with the use of a card. I believe a PED reader/writer box with personal or dedicated card is necessary to transfer designs to a card. Brother may no longer be supporting these so look on secondary market sites. There are some free software downloads available that will allow individual letters to be merged together to form words. The words can then be saved in the Brother PES format and exported to the personal card using the reader/writer box for embroidery.

There are other members here who have Brother machines who may be able to lend more specific information.

La cole, i do have a card reader that i purchased with my machine. Would you be able to tell me what to search to find the free software you are referring to? Do you know the name of the website? If it is what you say and i can connect letters with the software, that would solve my script problems! I will try to research that and maybe I can find something online. Thanks again! Rabbit

I would recommend True Sizer by Wilcom, but there are others; some professional versions will allow a 30-day free trial, such as Hatch--also by Wilcom.

You may also look at the following article on free software:

Please let us know about your final decision and results!

Wow! You are quick, la cole!. I was just in the process of researching "embroidery merging software" when I got your reply. I will now check out the True Sizer you mentioned and will let you know how it goes. It may be a few days as I'm waiting on out of town company to arrive shortly. BUT I WILL CHECK IT OUT! Thanks! rabbit
