I went to patchwork again today, our groups meets twice a week, though there are only 2 of us who always go both days. We always have a great chin wag & get lots done. I got 6 placemat tops done. These have black labrador pups on them, now just have to sandwich quilt & bind them. Tomorrow is the Tamworth markets.

I am back. Nothing serious for me but for others, just family stuff that took a lot of time and concentration but all sorted now, culminating in a family wedding yesterday and pending surgery for my middle grandson, it's been a long battle to get this surgery and took a lot of head banging and threats of legal action. he has traumatic sternoclavicular joint injuries. Found out it is hereditary and and has been misdiagnosed over the years. legal action is now going to be taken against the Sunshine Coast university hospital, Finally got him seen at the Royal Brisbane hospital on January 11th with a correct diagnosis, upgraded to a Category 1 with surgery now about the middle of march once the cardio thoracic and orthopaedic teams are assembled. it is very rare and needs expertise and skill. Zach and jade got married yesterday because of the serious of the surgery. he has lost half his body weight and his mental state was deteriorating. The call for help happened just before Christmas so it was all stops pulled out to get this sorted as my daughter and Zach were at their wits end. i didn't take long once I got involved.

I have joined the facebook group.

i have resigned as a Parish Councillor. I resigned because I was not going to compromise my principles. Politics can be very sneaky and i don't want to be part of anything that is not transparent. we had just cleaned up one big mess and another one was going to be allowed to happen. i am better off out of it.

I have a lot reading to catch up on, so much has happened since I have been absent, best of all I am able to get to my embroidery.

it is freezing over here, bone seeping cold, so hopefully, we might have a warmer Spring and Summer. I need the warmth of the Aussie sunshine.

      Soft hugs

Phillipa - Glad you have sorted your family and are back and taking care of yourself.

My family have also been keeping me busy. Nothing serious but everyone seems to think I should take care of all. Also still working on getting the house back together and cleaned after the months of construction disruption. Today I am taking time off for me to play and will be at an Anita Goodesign event for the day.

Pennykasteel and nonnadonna, thank you for your kind words on the bible cover. The bible really needed a new cover.

Nonnadonna, looking forward to seeing your completed UFO quilt.

Phillipa, so nice to hear from you again. You were missed. Glad you got the problems with your family straightened out. I agree never compromise your principles. I don't know why some people want to do things that are shady just because they can.

TurtleOwl, I know a little of what you have been going through as I just had one room completely redone, but it was not my kitchen. Just a bedroom.

Went out yesterday to buy bed linens and curtains for the bedroom that my son will be occupying. He wanted black curtains and a black comforter with black and white sheets and pillowcases. So glad that's not my bedroom. It is just too dark for me.

Checking in early, before the day gets underway. Grocery shopping, housework has been done and embroidery for fun. Still working on my crazy patch quilt, lots more blocks to make and the bits and pieces stash is getting smaller.

I hope everyone has as good day as possible. Soft hugs

Glad to see you back Phillipa & shastasmom, I had been thinking of you & hoping you were OK. I'm glad you could be so effective Phillipa. You sound as if you have been through the mill a bit, with your family & the politics which should never be part of volunteer organizations. Very wise to walk away, they will miss you,but that is their loss.

It has been lovely & cool here today, 30C & just a tiny bit he drought is biting hard, made worse by the heat wave conditions. I was talking to a friend today whose neighbour has had to sell all his stud stock that has taken the family 50 years to breed. His property is on the market, it is sad when a 4th generation farmer sells the family property.

The market yesterday was a little quiet, I had to pack up early as Henk was taking me to the movies to see a film of Follies, a London Royal Theatre production. A local boy (well he isn't a boy any more) Phillip Quast had the leading roll. A proud crowd packed the theatre, & probably the proudest of all was his father.

It's sad to read that a 4th generation farming family is selling up and selling off the stock that has taken generations to breed.

I have been getting snippets about Barnaby and his adventures. politics....

You've probably been having a good laugh over our circus of politics over the last few months, Phillipa. The dual citizenship saga started it all,and Barnaby had one NZ parent, so when asked by the Australian government if he had NZ citizenship, they said " yes, they claim anyone with any connection to NZ". So Barnaby & a lot of others had to resign, do all the paperwork to renounce their foreign citizenship & go through another election. During the election campaign Barnaby started the affair with his staffer & when the wife found out she went back to the family property in Goodiwindi. One of the daughters was so upset with her dad that she made sure as many people in Tamworth new about it. I don't know why the Labour Party took so ling to find out, but when they did they started raising heel in parliament. The saga continues! We are traditionally the safest National Party electorate in Australia, but I'm not sure that will save Barnaby in the long run.

Enough politics, I got the placemats sandwiched & quilted yesterday so now have to bind them.

i gotthe news about Barnaby through my sister who lives in Qld and a staunch National party supporter. She burst into print on Facebook pleading with peopleto leave him alone and if they are so guilt free then pillory him, but otherwise, so long as he looks after his electorate and does the job he is elected to do, what is the problem?

I have never held with Dual citizenship, you are or you are not. this is why back in the day I would not give up my Aussie citizenship for a British, just because a job the required it. Another thing I let go because of my beliefs. I was not going back home on quota system or tourist visa. My Grandfather and Father fought for my right to be Australian. I was not giving that right away for a job that required British Citizenship, the best bit they knew that I was Aussie when they recruited me in Kiwi Land and approached us about the jobs. Kent was OK, he held Dual Nationality, British and Kiwi. The Kiwi's never asked me to take out Citizenship, but the Brits did... I hope the electorate remain true to their political beliefs. The Labour party stirs trouble wherever it can. The nature of the beast.

I got four more blocks on the crazy quilt dome yesterday. This quilt is going to be the recycled quilt. The waddingh I am using is made from old dressing gowns, mattress protectors that are now no use on beds, but so much life in the wadding, who is going to know that this quilt is the bits and pieces of everything I have done over the last eight years.

I hope you got the binding finished on the place mats Penny.

ID:	43170 I went to patchwork today & we made a zippered bag, rather a nice pattern, we were meant to make it out of patchworked fabric, but there was no way I was going to sew 1.5 inch stripe together, cut them & make 90 1 inch squares just for a little bag, so I put an applique on mine. Photo coming when I finish it.

The Barnaby saga is continuing, I think he will survive, but it will be a bit of a close call.

Penny, I have a tub of 2 inch squares that are waiting to be joined, these become 1 and 1/2 inch squares when joined. I just keep adding to the tub when I get fabric left over. You could have had some of these hahahahahaha.

I am still working on the blocks for my Crazy patchwork quilt. This one I am keeping. Over the years I have collected crazy quilt patch designs, so far I have made 40 blocks not one repeat, I have about another 25 block patterns I have bought. I might gt this quilt without any repeat blocks if I make up the simply crazy blocks as well. I have about another 20 of those. If I get this finished in time I am going to display this at the Somersham All Saints Quilt Guild Show, they exhibit once every three years, it is fund raiser for one of the local charities. i will see once I get it finished and what it looks like. The public vote for their favourite quilt. Nothing like displaying a bit of madness.

I think Barnaby's daughter is spiteful and one day might regret her actions toward her father Let's hope she leads a blameless life.

the Bible cover looks so timeless, I'm sure it is much appreciated. I tattered Bible is a used Bible, the best kind.
      The quilts are so pretty!

It's been hectic here. I have a lot of things ready for our granddaughter, just praying a lot that she makes is close enough to full term to survive, 23 weeks and counting. Daughter is not doing well. She has a new ob, specialized in high risk. I am expecting tonight is her last day of work til little one comes. I am working on the final cloth diaper set. I made wazoodle tuck in diaper sets in preemie and small sizes and am working on pocket diaper covers and inserts now. Today was spent making a mattress pad and sheet (and sheet pattern) for the bassinet.
And we were just informed last week another grandchild is on the way, a second for the family I watch while parents work. I'm not sure I am up to watching 2 preschoolers 4 days a week!
I am looking forward to spring and starting seeds.

Pennykasteel and Phillipa, I love reading about your politics. Helps to make our sound like other countries that we don't hear about.

GrannyElen, thank you for your kind words. He has had that bible since he was 11 and was given to him by his grandparents, so it means a lot to him.

Politics, the latest over herd being played down by the Labour party is that it's leader Jeremy Corbin was paid to be an informer for the Czech government when it was a communist country. it was head lines on Saturday, the media has really played this one down. he is an avowed Socialist and you have to remember it was the labour government who nearly bankrupted this country when it was in power. The UKIP leader has been ousted for the tweets made by his girlfriend before they were in a relationship. She tweeted some not so nice things about Megan Markle and how her marrying into the Royal family would dilute the blood line once they get a coloured princess, i am paraphrasing here because it was not nice how she put this. You can bet she has been vetted as has her family before the Queen gave permission for Harry to marry her.

Granny Elen, I certainly would not be up to looking after two preschoolers. I know helping your family is the object of the game, but at what cost to your health? You have been sewing up a storm with the things for the new baby.

I hope everyone has a good day.

      Good morning to all!

I have not been here for a long time, but I have not been idle...

I am a grandmother now. Zyra was born January 19th and it has been a busy time for us, me doing carpentry (building a co-sleeper / changing station) and MC knitting.

I hope to get into my sewing room today, but it needs cleaning up, so sewing is not going to happen.

Great to hear from you again Sonia, You sound as if you are enjoying your grandchild.

Barnaby has fallen on his sword, moved to the back bench. That should quieten the Labour Party for a few days. I think the papers are enjoying the saga & will be sad it has been dampened down a little.

Elen look after yourself, I hope little one stays put for a lot longer, she needs to get a little closer to full term.

Congratulations Sonia. It's lovely to hear from you. It sounds like you have become a very skilful carpenter/ furniture maker. Oh you do have to get your sewing room sorted so you can get back into sewing.

@Penny, when I read what Barnaby is supposed to have said, it could have been taken as a double entendre. it's all in the mind of the reader. At least he is still in Government. Now let's see if the labour party is squeaky clean.

Sonia, welcome back. Had a look at your guest room album. Would you like to come over here and become a furniture maker. I have some furniture ideas that I would like to see made. LOL Seriously, you are quite the furniture maker. Congratulations on the new baby and becoming a grandma. It is so nice to hear that MC is doing better.
